Noom isn't really a calorie counter. It's a program: daily lessons on habits, coaches, communities, meal plans, fitness classes and, through Noom Med, access to GLP-1 medication for people who are eligible. On the US App Store it has 4.7 stars from about 874,000 ratings.
That matters when you're looking for an alternative. If the program is what helped you, a calorie tracker is a step down. But if the part you actually open every day is the food log, you may be paying for a lot you don't use. This page is for that second group, and it's honest about who should stay.
Quick disclosure: I'm Batu, and I build Logma, an iPhone calorie tracker you talk to. I'm biased, so every fact about Noom below comes from its own App Store listing or from reviews there, linked at the bottom.
“A turkey wrap with hummus and spinach, an apple and a small oat milk latte.”
Example: Logma splits this into the wrap, the hummus, the apple and the latte, and logs about 610 kcal with macros.
Why people leave Noom in 2026
Of the newest 1 and 2 star reviews on the US App Store we read in November 2026 (237 reviews), about 24% mention being charged after a trial, not being able to cancel, or refunds. A review can mention several things, so the shares overlap.
- Charges, cancelling and refunds, about 24%. The top complaint. Reviewers describe charges they didn't expect, and one warns about a long subscription term that keeps billing after you want to stop.
- The paywall, about 23%.
- The price, about 14%.
- Crashes, bugs and lost data, about 11%. Reviews mention slow loading and having to reinstall and reset settings.
- Sync, Apple Health and login, about 8%.
- Ads, wrong food data and the AI misreading food, about 5% each.
- Slow logging, about 3%. A few reviewers say the animations and extra screens get in the way. One App Store review puts it simply: "I want to log my info quickly".
On the Turkish App Store the picture is sharper, though the sample is small. Noom has 3.9 stars from 184 ratings there and no Turkish interface, and of the 31 newest low reviews, about 61% are about charges, cancelling or refunds.
Noom vs Logma
Noom details come from its US App Store listing as of November 4, 2026.
| Noom | Logma | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A weight loss program: lessons, coaching, community, meal plans and classes, plus Noom Med for GLP-1 medication | A calorie and macro tracker you talk to |
| How you log | AI food logging with protein and calorie tracking | Say or type the meal in one normal sentence |
| Where the food data comes from | Noom's food list of 1M+ items | No database to scroll. Each item is estimated from what you said |
| Coaching | Daily lessons, plus optional 1:1 coaching | None |
| Ads | Ads come up in about 5% of recent low reviews | No ads |
| Free version | The listing doesn't mention one | No. The yearly plan starts with a 3 day free trial |
| Price | The listing advertises Noom Weight plans from $17 a month and Noom Med plans from $39 a month, both footnoted. The App Store lists Noom Program purchases from $44.99 to $199.99 | $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year |
| Turkish interface | No | Yes, English and Turkish |
| Best for | Structure, lessons and support, or medication through a clinician | A quick daily food log and nothing else |
The App Store doesn't say how long each Noom Program purchase covers, so the price you see in the app is the one that counts. Read the term before you pay, given how many low reviews are about billing.
How logging works in Logma
Noom's lessons are about why you eat. Logma doesn't do any of that. It does one job: turning what you ate into calories and macros, fast.
Tap the mic and say it, or type it:
"Two lahmacun with lemon and parsley, and a glass of ayran."
Logma splits that into items, estimates each one from what you said, and logs the calories and macros in about 3 seconds. No search, no picking from a list, no extra screens before the meal is saved. It knows dishes from everywhere, Turkish ones like lahmacun and ayran included, and it counts the oil, butter and sauce you mention, which a photo can't see.
There are no ads and nothing to finish before you can log. If you need a starting calorie number, the calorie calculator and how many calories to lose weight will get you there, and calorie deficit explained covers the basics.
Logma has no photo logging, no barcode scanner, no meal plans and no coaching. If you want the food log only, that's the point. If you want more, see the next section.
When Noom is the better choice
Noom offers a lot that a tracker doesn't. Stay if one of these is you:
- You want to be taught, not just tracked. Daily lessons on habits and behavior change are the core of Noom Weight.
- You want people in your corner. Noom offers optional 1:1 coaching and supportive communities. Logma has no coaching.
- You get GLP-1 medication through Noom Med. That's a medical service with online doctors and health coaches, and a calorie app is not a substitute for it. Talk to your clinician before you change or cancel anything there.
- You want meal plans and recipes. Noom lists meal plans and dietitian backed recipes. Logma has no meal plans.
- You want workouts in the same place. Noom lists 1,000+ fitness, stretching and meditation classes, plus sync with Apple Health, Fitbit and Garmin.
If you want to compare plain trackers instead, my comparison of calorie tracking apps in 2026 goes through the main ones by how you log food.
How to cancel Noom without being charged again
With about 24% of the US low reviews and 61% of the Turkish ones about charges, cancelling and refunds, do this carefully and in order.
- If you pay through the App Store, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Tap Noom and choose Cancel Subscription, at least a day before it renews. Apple's steps are here.
- If Noom isn't in that list, you probably signed up on Noom's website. Then the App Store can't cancel it, and you cancel with Noom directly.
- Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
- Take a screenshot of the cancellation confirmation.
- For an App Store charge you didn't mean to make, ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple explains how here.
Then start Logma's yearly plan with its 3 day free trial and log your normal meals for those three days. If it isn't for you, cancel in the same Subscriptions screen before the trial ends.
