Yazio is a big, well rated app. In the US App Store it averages 4.7 stars from 51,603 ratings, and in Turkey it has even more ratings, 61,242. So if you're looking for a Yazio alternative, the app probably didn't fail you everywhere. Something specific wore you down.
This page goes through what that usually is, based on the newest 1 and 2 star App Store reviews we read in November 2026, and says which kind of app fixes each problem. Sometimes the answer is not mine.
Quick disclosure: I'm Batu, and I build Logma, an iPhone calorie tracker you talk to. So I'm biased. Every number below comes from the App Store, and the sources are at the bottom.
“Oatmeal with a banana and a spoon of peanut butter, and a small latte with oat milk.”
Example: Logma splits this into the oatmeal, the banana, the peanut butter and the latte, and logs about 480 kcal with macros.
Why people leave Yazio
Of the newest 1 and 2 star App Store reviews we read in November 2026 (284 reviews from the US store), these are the reasons that came up most. One review can mention several.
- The paywall, about 19%. People feel too much of the app sits behind YAZIO PRO, and the upgrade prompts keep coming.
- Billing, about 9%. Charged after a trial, trouble cancelling, or a refund that never came.
- Sync and login, about 8%. Apple Health not syncing, getting logged out, or not getting back in.
- Ads, about 6%. Reviewers describe an ad after almost every entry, plus a spin the wheel discount for PRO that keeps popping up.
- Wrong food data and crashes, about 6% each. Daily totals that don't add up, and an app that lags, freezes or won't let you delete an entry.
- Price and the AI misreading food, about 4% each.
Some people quit before they even started. One App Store review says they "didn't have the patience to answer all the questions" on first launch.
Slow logging itself comes up in only about 2% of these reviews. If that is your reason, the rest of this page is mostly for you. If your reason is the paywall or the ads and you want to stay free, be clear on one thing: Logma has no free version. It trades ads and prompts for a plain subscription.
In Turkey the picture is different. Of 301 low reviews in the Turkish App Store, login and sync problems lead at about 22%, with crashes close behind at about 21%.
Yazio vs Logma
Here is how the two compare on the things people actually switch over.
| Yazio | Logma | |
|---|---|---|
| How you log | Search the food database, scan a barcode, or use the AI calorie tracker | Say or type what you ate in one sentence |
| Where the food data comes from | A food database Yazio puts at 4 million+ searchable items | No database to scroll. The AI estimates each item from what you said |
| Ads | Ads come up in about 6% of the low reviews we read | No ads |
| Free version | Yes, a free calorie counter, with YAZIO PRO on top | No. The yearly plan starts with a 3 day free trial |
| Price (US App Store) | YAZIO PRO listed from $11.90 to $32.99, a semi annual plan at $34.99 and a "Get Started Today" offer at $47.90 | $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year |
| Extras | Fasting tracker (16:8, 5:2), 2,900+ recipes, meal planning, water and step tracking | Focused on logging: calories and macros for every item |
| Turkish | Has a Turkish interface | English and Turkish, and it knows Turkish dishes |
| Best for | Fasting, recipes and a free start | Logging a whole meal in one sentence |
The App Store listing doesn't say which plan length each Yazio price is for, so check the paywall inside the app before you start a trial. Logma's prices above are the whole list: monthly or yearly, and the 3 day free trial is on the yearly plan only.
How logging works in Logma
In a search based app, a normal breakfast is three or four searches. Find the oats, pick an entry, fix the serving, then do the same for the banana, the peanut butter and the coffee. Each step is a chance to pick the wrong entry or leave the serving on the default.
In Logma you tap the mic and say it, or type the same sentence if you'd rather not talk:
"Oatmeal with a banana and a spoon of peanut butter, and a small latte with oat milk."
Logma splits that into four items, estimates each one from what you said, and logs the calories and macros in about 3 seconds. There's no list of near matches to choose from. If you know a weight, say it, like "150 grams of chicken". If you don't, describe it the way you'd tell a friend.
Two honest limits. The estimate is only as good as your sentence: if you stirred butter into the oatmeal and don't mention it, the butter isn't counted. And Logma has no barcode scanner and doesn't read photos, so a packaged snack gets logged by describing it.
It knows dishes from everywhere, Turkish dishes and portions included, the interface is in English and Turkish, and there are no ads. It runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and Android launches on November 14, 2026. There's more on why speed matters in logging meals in 3 seconds, and on portions in tracking calories without weighing food.
When Yazio is the better choice
To be fair to Yazio, there are good reasons to stay:
- You want to stay free. Yazio promotes a free calorie counter. Logma has no free version, so if free is the point, Logma is the wrong switch.
- You fast. Yazio has a fasting tracker with plans like 16:8 and 5:2, plus meal timing reminders.
- You want recipes and meal planning. Yazio lists 2,900+ recipes with low carb, vegetarian and vegan filters, and meal planning tools. Logma doesn't make meal plans.
- You eat a lot of packaged food. Yazio has a barcode scanner. For a protein bar with a label, scanning is hard to beat.
- You like everything in one place. Water tracking with reminders, steps and activity sit next to your food log.

How to switch from Yazio without being charged again
- Cancel YAZIO PRO first. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Yazio, then tap Cancel Subscription. If there's no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, it's already cancelled. Apple's steps are here.
- Don't rely on deleting the app. Deleting Yazio does not cancel the subscription. Only cancelling does.
- Not in the list? You may have paid another way. Apple's advice is to check your bank or card statement to see who bills you, then cancel with that company.
- Charged for a renewal you meant to cancel? Ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com: sign in, choose "I'd like to", then "Request a refund", pick a reason and the subscription. Apple says to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update, and it decides each request (Apple's refund steps).
- Note the end date of any new trial. Apple's guidance is to cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends if you don't want it to renew. That goes for Logma's 3 day trial too.
- Keep your calorie target. Write it down before you leave, or get a fresh number from the calorie calculator.
